Sirius Corporation's Expert Knowledge of the LAMP Stack was Crucial in its Selection
Confirming open source software's move into the mission-critical application space, Sirius Corporation, a leading European open source services provider, has been charged with supporting Usborne Books at Home's web-based business intelligence systems running on Linux.
A press release by the company stated that Sirius Corporation's expert knowledge of the LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP) and willingness to liaise with third-party application vendors was crucial in its selection by Usborne Books at Home.
Until now the lack of truly capable, 24/7 support has prevented some organizations migrating web-based applications to Open Source platforms. Sirius Corporation has addressed this concern.
David Harte, General Manager at Usborne Books at Home said: "We selected Sirius after they demonstrated the experience and technical skills to manage major web-based applications on Linux."
Mark Taylor, CEO of Sirius Corporation said: "The performance and lower TCO benefits of Open Source make it the obvious choice for hosting web-based applications. Some businesses don't have the skills to manage products like Linux and Apache in-house, so they ask us to do it for them."
