Sirius partners with KDE - Ping Wales PDF Print E-mail
UK-based open source consultancy, Sirius Corporation, has joined the likes of Ubuntu and its parent company, Canonical Ltd in partnering with the KDE project, with a view to promoting the KDE desktop in businesses.

KDE is an independent project bringing together hundreds of developers, translators, artists and other professionals worldwide, collaborating over the internet to create and freely distribute a customisable and stable desktop and office environment.

Sirius and KDE are already joint participants in SQO-OSS, an EU-funded project that assesses the quality of open source code.

Mark Taylor, CEO of Sirius, comments: "KDE is a high-quality desktop that has always had a strong following in the open source community. By becoming a sponsor of the project, we now want to raise its profile in the enterprise."

Sebastian Kügler, director of KDE e. V, the official organisation behind the KDE project, adds: "KDE is happy to welcome Sirius as one of Europe's leading open source experts in the circuit of KDE's supporting members.

"For KDE, this agreement manifests the next natural step in the improvement of relationships between KDE as the leading free desktop and leaders in the open source industry."

Sirius recently announced a partnership with multinational Linux and OSS provider, Red Hat, to help the latter to extend its outreach to organisations looking to implement enterprise-class open source solutions.
